Instagram Broadcast Channels got new features this Wednesday (04). Open chats between creators and followers finally let participants interact with text responses and provides in-depth engagement metrics for managers.
Launched in February 2023 Instagram Broadcast Channels are shared chat rooms for creators. can be opened to interact directly with followers. Originally the format only allowed the channel admin to send text messages, but members could interact with reactions and vote in polls, for example.
Now the interaction possibilities are expanded: Channel members can respond to creator’s messages. Each message offers its own space to host replies, so the conversation stays organized regardless of the number of interactions.
Another addition to Broadcast Channels was prompts. This message format serves as an alternative to quickly engaging group members with a quick question, similar to stickers posted in stories.
Just like text replies, Responses to prompts are public. Other members can browse other posts and like the ones they like the most. The interaction with the most votes appears highlighted in the list, giving it a better chance of being noticed by the admin, who can respond and like any of the answers.
Deeper measurements
THE Instagram also offers deeper metrics on interactions across Broadcast Channels. The channel creator can check the total number of interactions, days they posted messages to the community, and other details such as total number of replies, reactions, votes in polls, and shares in Stories.

In the Channel performance section, the creator can define goals for the chat, such as increasing engagement, increasing engagement from existing members, or increasing the number of participants. Once selected, Instagram will give you tips to achieve your goals.
In the announcement statement, Instagram did not provide details on when the new tools will be available to everyonebut there are already Transmission Channels through which responses are enabled.
