“The EU must continue to constantly tighten sanctions against Russia,” Valtonen said in an interview with Helsingin Sanomat newspaper. “Finland is ready to support tightening restrictions on imports from Russia if the participating countries jointly make such a decision.”
The only company of the Russian company Norilsk Nickel in the European Union is located in the Finnish city of Harjavalta. Valtonen added that Finland “will not oppose the addition of nickel to the sanctions list.”
In late November, Bloomberg reported that EU countries were preparing the 15th package of sanctions against Russia, which could include 50 individuals and 30 organizations.
This week, according to Reuters, representatives of EU states could not agree on the 15th sanctions package: two countries blocked the adoption of restrictions.
