“Symptom Radar” will allow users to be alerted to a cold or flu by analyzing data collected by the device each morning to identify respiratory deviations from personal baselines. On this basis, wearable devices will warn about the possible onset of the disease. However, as the manufacturer states, Oura rings have a high potential detection of symptoms of respiratory illnesses caused by cold or flu.
New functionality has been added to test samples of Oura rings, thanks to the Oura Labs program and the manufacturer’s collaboration with the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of San Francisco and the TemPredict initiative.
It is stated that the system, which aims to detect abnormalities in the user’s breathing, identifies possible symptoms at three levels: “No symptoms”, “Minor symptoms” and “Major symptoms.” If potential symptoms are detected, the ring will advise the user to activate rest mode and take active steps to allow the body to rest and regenerate.
