The Investigative Committee has drafted a bill that recognizes digital currencies as property for the purposes of criminal and criminal procedure legislation. This was told to RIA Novosti by the head of the investigative committee, Alexander Bastrykin.

According to him, the draft federal law also defines the procedure for confiscation, recognition as material evidence and seizure of digital currencies, as well as the “peculiarities of the seizure” of such property within the framework of investigative actions.
Bastrykin clarified that the bill is being examined by the government.
The head of the insurance company spoke for the first time in 2020 about the need to recognize digital currencies as property in an interview with RIA Novosti. He then clarified that said currency could be subject to bribery or theft.
On November 29, Vladimir Putin signed a law on taxation of income from mining and cryptocurrency transactions. Starting in 2025, the personal income tax rate for holders of such assets may be 13%, and for income exceeding 2.4 million rubles per year – 15%.
