Microsoft has officially allowed Windows 11 to remain on older computers that were previously considered “incompatible” with the new OS.

Initially, Windows 11 could only be installed on PCs with a TPM 2.0 cryptographic processor. However, users quickly learned to bypass this limitation and install Windows 11 on computers that do not meet the stated requirements.

Now Microsoft has actually confirmed that TPM 2.0 is not a strictly required component for Windows 11 to work. But the company still warns about possible risks and accepts responsibility for the consequences.

It is not recommended to install Windows 11 on a device that does not meet the system requirements. If you do decide to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware, be prepared for possible compatibility issues.

Among the risks, the company mentions the systems used and the lack of important security updates.

Additionally, Windows 10 users whose computers did not previously support Windows 11 can now upgrade to the latest version of the OS. However, on such devices, after installing Windows 11, a watermark appears on the desktop indicating that significant system requirements are not met. It will also be in the Settings app. You can disable both notifications through the system registry. [PCWorld]
