Dubbing is generated automatically when you upload a video. It can be listened to and deleted if the user is not satisfied with the quality of the translation, before or after publishing the video on YouTube.
If the video is in English, the service will automatically translate it into French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. If the video is in one of these languages, an English track will be added. The dubbing language can be selected in the settings.
As examples of how automatic dubbing can be used, YouTube provided videos on how to cook gratins and sew traditional Indian clothing.
Content marketing for a healthy person: how to attract customers
The video hosting service has been testing the dubbing feature since 2023, The Verge wrote. According to the post, “hundreds” of content creators participated in the pilot project, and the tool itself is powered by Aloud, an AI-based voice-over service developed at Google’s Area 120 incubator.
Russia’s Yandex has its own video dubbing technology, which it introduced in 2021. The company’s website states that the tool is based on neural networks that work “almost like simultaneous translators.” The service supports translation and voice acting in eight languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
