Bakalchuk estimated the film’s budget at 200 million rubles and added that the film crew will apply for co-financing from the Federal Fund for Support of National Cinema. The name of the director and cast is still unknown, but the businessman promised to introduce the team in the near future. The script will be based on Bakalchuk’s memories, his family archives and the memories of his friends.
“This story deserves to be told, with all the ups and downs, the love and strong family, the crises and the victories. It has everything: brilliant heroes, textbook villains and, most importantly, a happy ending, which I am one hundred percent sure of,” Bakalchuk emphasized.
The co-founder of Wildberries added that the market “has become a cultural phenomenon in 20 years” and the events surrounding the company will only contribute to increasing interest in the film’s subject.
Wildberries and advertising operator Russ announced a merger in June to create a “modern, high-tech digital commerce platform.” As a result of the merger, the company RVB was created.
Bakalchuk, who founded Wildberries with Tatyana Kim, accused Russ of “a raider’s takeover of the business” and tried to protest the deal. In July, Kim announced that she had filed for divorce from Bakalchuk.
