According to them, the head of TikTok has been trying to meet with Trump since his victory in the November 2024 presidential election. Shortly before the meeting, TikTok asked the US Supreme Court to overturn a law that would force the owner of the network social company, the Chinese ByteDance, to sell an asset to an American investor.

In early December, a US federal appeals court upheld the law, saying the claims against ByteDance “are part of a broader effort to counter the threat to US national security posed by China.” The current US president, Joe Biden, signed the document in April, giving the Chinese company until January 19, 2025 to close the agreement to sell the application.

After January 20, TikTok’s fate will be in Trump’s hands: his inauguration is scheduled for that day. During the election campaign, the politician stated that he would not allow TikTok to be banned.

At a press conference on December 16, Trump did not mention the meeting with Shaw Tzu Chu, but noted that he owed part of his victory to TikTok. “You know, I have good feelings about TikTok. I received 34 more points from youth votes. “Some say TikTok played a role in this,” the president-elect said. He added that he would try to stop the blocking of TikTok in the US, but did not specify how.

In a filing with the Supreme Court, TikTok cited “the likelihood that the new administration will suspend enforcement of the law or otherwise seek to mitigate its impact.” The company stressed that it would not be appropriate to apply the law for several weeks or days.

Among the possible buyers of TikTok, the American media named the former director of Activision Blizzard, Bobby Kotick, the Walmart and Microsoft corporations. Offer to buy a social network. introduce Rumble video service.
