Amendments are being made to the law “On the protection of consumer rights”. According to them, the product description must contain a link leading to a page with data on the certificate or declaration of conformity in the Rosakkreditatsiya register or in the EAEU unified register.

If the product “is not subject to mandatory confirmation of conformity,” then the seller must provide information about this in the product description “in a clear and accessible manner,” the document says. This does not apply to used products.

The initiative aims to protect consumers’ right to receive reliable information about products and their manufacturers. Currently, the law does not require marketplaces or sellers to post links to data in state registries. The new document “will eliminate this legal loophole,” says the explanatory note.

Rosakkreditatsiya proposed in March to oblige sellers in markets to indicate a certificate or declaration confirming the quality and safety of products, Forbes wrote.
