So Musk responded to an offer from a subscriber under the pseudonym MarioNawfal to have a simple email with a clear interface called Xmail. “Imagine: A clean inbox, without the jumbled message threads and formatting horrors we all hate. Xmail will keep the best thing about email (universal compatibility) and throw away the rest. No additional applications. No endless contact lists. Just convenient, uninterrupted communication. Why are we still dealing with emails like it’s 1999?,” MarioNawfal wrote.
To this, Musk replied to the subscriber, “Yes. “It’s on the bucket list.”
The number of social network users reaching nearly 600 million people created immediate unrest in the US media landscape, but Musk’s potential email service could pose a challenge to Gmail, which has 2.5 billion users worldwide.
Phishing is cited as a major threat due to Musk’s closeness to Trump and his leadership of the Department of Government Effectiveness. Potential e-mail users will also attract the intense attention of fraudsters.
