As a Christmas gift to users, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri revealed this Friday (20) that the platform is working on an AI video editing feature that promises to transform every aspect of content. In the demonstration, the administrator of the social network shows how this artificial intelligence can change scenes, clothes and add objects to images.
Instagram’s new artificial intelligence function, whose name is not yet known, is made possible thanks to the Movie Gen model, which was released in October. Although only a few seconds long, the content shows Mosseri wearing a leather jacket in the server room, then a furry coat in heavy snow.
The material is so impressive that it even shows the manager with a chain around his neck and a puppet version. The most interesting thing about this show is that Adam doesn’t look distorted even when making movements with his arms, as AIs have difficulty quickly tracking the human body and applying effects simultaneously.
The quality is impressive
This isn’t the first time Movie Gen has impressed. When the model was introduced a few months ago, the technology was praised for its very clear image quality and all its integrated visual effects. According to the company, the functionality coming to Instagram will allow editing videos with just a text command, as in other assistants.
According to Mosseri, the company is working to give creators more flexibility so they can “do whatever they want with their videos.” While we still have to wait for more details, a function like this could be perfect when editing content, whether it’s changing the presentation format or fixing errors.
For now, there’s no date yet for the rollout of Instagram’s AI editor, but it’s expected to happen during 2025, according to the platform’s executive.
