DigiTimes reports this. The publication reports that Apple has signed a contract with Tianma for the supply of LCD screens. The choice in favor of the Chinese manufacturer was due to the exceptionally competitive price of 10 dollars per panel.
MacRumors believes that the low cost of the component will help reduce the final price of the device.
Rumors about a HomePod speaker with a display have been circulating since 2021. In early 2024, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gruman reported that Apple was working on a new version of the device with an “iPad-like display.”
And in early December, the famous columnist Ming-Chi Kuo on his social networks predicted the launch in the second half of 2025 of an Apple smart speaker equipped with an A18 processor, a 6-7-inch display and support for Apple Intelligence .
According to Kuo, the delay in the launch of the new HomePod is mainly due to software development issues.
