It has been reported that Foxconn, known for making the iPhone, approached Nissan with an offer, but this offer was previously rejected. While the Taiwanese company has not given up on its acquisition plans, it expects Honda and Nissan to “make concrete progress in merger talks.”

A merger of Honda and Nissan could create a company worth $54 billion that produces 7.4 million vehicles a year, making it the world’s third-largest automaker behind Toyota and Volkswagen.
