The cyber attack delayed 24 domestic flights by more than 30 minutes but did not affect flight safety. There were no viruses or customer data leaks. JAL temporarily suspended ticket sales for domestic and international flights, but resumed operations a few hours later.

Other airlines, including ANA, Skymark and Starflyer, were not affected by the incident. The attack comes at a time when concerns about Japan’s cybersecurity are increasing. The public remembered the cyber attacks on the Japanese space agency and the port in Nagoya.
