“We hope that over time these AI accounts will be present on our platforms in the same way as regular accounts. They will have a description and a profile photo, and with the help of AI they will be able to generate content and share it on the platform,” Hayes said.
The top manager added that in the next two years the corporation intends to make its products more “entertaining and attractive”, including through user interaction with AI, which should become more “socialized.”
According to the Financial Times, social networks are being forced to introduce artificial intelligence technologies to attract new users and increase the amount of content on their platforms.
However, experts interviewed by the publication warn that these types of accounts can fill social networks with low-quality material, which will complicate the work of bloggers and content creators. “Unlike the people who produce the content, these AI characters don’t have life experiences, emotions or the same ability to relate,” Becky Owen, former head of Meta*’s innovation team, told the newspaper.
*Meta is recognized as an extremist organization in Russia and is banned.
