“RIA Novosti’s Telegram channel has begun to be blocked in Europe. The agency’s correspondents report that it is no longer available in Poland, Belgium, Switzerland, Greece, the Czech Republic and Italy,” RIA Novosti reports. When you try to view the channel’s materials, a message appears saying that it “violated local laws.”
In turn, access to the Izvestia Telegram channel, according to the newspaper, was lost for users from Spain, Germany, Sweden and Belgium. When you try to view posts, a notification appears that the channel violated the laws of these countries.
“Caution, News”, citing users from the European Union, reports that the messenger has limited access to Telegram channels Rossiya 1, Channel One and NTV, but does not specify in which countries the restrictions were introduced.
In May, the EU Council suspended broadcasts by four Russian media outlets: Voice of Europe, RIA Novosti, Izvestia and Rossiyskaya Gazeta. The organization indicated that these media “spread Russian propaganda” and are also “under constant direct or indirect control of the Russian leadership.”
