It was stated that the 28-meter-long ship probably belonged to the Russian merchant fleet. It was found after rising sea levels exposed a dune.
Radiocarbon dating showed that the ship was built between 1762 and 1808. The wood of the hull, including pine and larch, probably came from the Volga-Caspian region.
The presence of buckwheat baskets among the cargo confirms the popularity of this product as a commercial product in the region.
Excavations also revealed traces of subsequent repairs to the ship. Buckwheat and weeds show agricultural practices of the time.
