This Thursday (2), MSI introduced the MPG 242R X60N, a gaming monitor for professionals with a sub-600 Hz refresh rate display. The product is aimed at those who are demanding about the frames on the screen.
The model has a small 24-inch display with a Rapid TN panel, optimized for maximum speed and response time but lacking in color quality. This isn’t a big issue for professional gamers because image quality isn’t as high a priority for this audience compared to the need for speed and fluidity of movement.
The 600 Hz of the MSI monitor surpasses the 540 Hz of the Asus ROG Swift Pro PG248QP released in early 2023 and is on par with the Nitro XV240 F6 that Acer announced last year. To support all that hertz, MSI had to limit the panel to Full HD resolution (1920×1080), which is sufficient for such products.
More features
MSI hasn’t revealed all the features of the MPG 242R X60N, but it has confirmed the compatibility of features like VRR and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. The monitor will also include built-in artificial intelligence functions to improve image quality.
In terms of connections, a 98W USB Type-C input is confirmed, but we can also expect at least a DisplayPort and HDMI port. The peripheral has a base with height, rotation and tilt adjustment when analyzing images.
More details about the MPG 242R X60N are expected to be announced at CES 2025, but MSI is expected to launch this monitor from the 2nd half of the year.
