CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altmanhas some regrets about one of its decisions regarding ChatGPT, as the Pro platform, which costs $200 per month and provides better communication, search and resolution results, has not met the company’s revenue expectations.

“Personally, I chose the price,” Altman wrote in a series of posts on X, “and thought we would make some money.”

ChatGPT Proreleased late last year, provides access to an improved version of OpenAI’s o1 AI “reasoning” model, o1 pro mode, and also removes speed limits on some of the company’s other tools, including video generator Sora.

Even in a recent interview with Bloomberg, Altman said that the original premium plan for OpenAI’s AI chatbot ChatGPT did not include pricing research.

“I think we tried two prices: $20 and $42,” he told the publication. “People thought $42 was too much. They were happy to pay $20. We chose $20. It was probably late December 2022 or early January. “It wasn’t a strict ‘hire someone and look at prices’.”

However, OpenAI is optimistic that its revenue will reach $11.6 billion this year and $100 billion in 2029, which is in line with Nestlé’s current annual sales.
