Data discovered by a user of the Famiboards forum under the pseudonym LiC points to this. Customs documents for shipments of Nintendo components mention “mouse bases,” which are 90x90mm plastic stickers that will supposedly be attached to the back of the new Joy-Cons.

This feature is reminiscent of a similar solution from Lenovo Legion GO, introduced in 2024, where the right controller can be used as a mouse. But Nintendo has a chance to improve this idea and make it more intuitive.

It remains unclear whether this feature will be adopted by game developers, but it highlights Nintendo’s desire to experiment with controls and functionality. Just like in the days of the Wii console.
