Apple said it never sold the data collected by its Siri voice assistant. This is stated in a statement published on the company’s website. It previously agreed to pay $95 million to settle a class-action lawsuit over Siri eavesdropping.

“Apple has never used Siri data to create marketing profiles, has never made it available for advertising, and has never sold it to anyone for any purpose. “We are constantly developing technologies to make Siri even more private, and we will continue to do so,” the statement said.

Apple emphasized that Siri processes requests on the user’s device, minimizing the need to transfer personal information to the company’s servers.

However, some features require real-time input from servers and only in such cases does Siri use as little information as possible to provide an accurate result. Apple also does not store audio recordings of interactions with Siri unless the user gives consent.

In early January, Apple agreed to pay $95 million to settle a class-action lawsuit. It alleged that Siri was listening to people without their permission and sharing the information with advertisers so they could target their ads based on keywords.
