However, unlike the 2023 report, the WEF does not claim that artificial intelligence will have a “net positive” impact on employment this year. Some of the fastest-growing occupations include postal clerks, administrative assistants and payroll specialists.
At the same time, the demand for AI skills is growing rapidly: 70% of companies are looking for people to develop AI tools, and 62% are looking for experts to interact effectively with technology.
The report emphasizes that the main impact of artificial intelligence may be to “augment” human skills rather than replace them. But there are already examples: Companies like Dropbox and Duolingo have declared AI as a reason for layoffs.
