According to Frank Azor, marketing manager of the company’s gaming division, leaks have significantly underestimated the real capabilities of the new series.
Azor noted that almost all of the rumors published before CES do not reflect the real features of new products. He also added that based on insider assumptions, the actual performance of the RX 9070 will be higher than expected.
However, he did not disclose specific figures or details.
One of the most discussed rumors was a post from the Chiphell forum. He claimed that the RX 8800 series (as the line was supposed to be called at the time) could offer the same level of ray tracing as the NVIDIA RTX 4080 and overall performance comparable to the Radeon RX 7900 XT.
If the new RX 9070 actually exceeds these figures, AMD will have a significant advantage in the gaming graphics card market.
