According to sources, low-cost Galaxy smartphones released this year will receive software updates for 6 years. This applies to both major Android releases and security updates.
Samsung’s new policy began in 2024, when the company’s flagships received the promise of 7 Android updates and security support for the same number of years.
In October of the same year, Samsung launched the Galaxy A16, a budget smartphone that was priced under $250 and came with a similar 6-year update warranty.
In 2025, this strategy is expected to extend to new mid-range and budget models such as the Galaxy A56.
Although there is no official confirmation from Samsung yet, the company’s past experience with updates shows that this trend continues.
