“After this date, if you use Microsoft 365 on a Windows 10 device, apps will continue to work as before. However, we strongly recommend upgrading to Windows 11 to avoid performance and reliability issues over time,” Microsoft said.
On December 31, 2024, the company stopped supporting the Calendar, People, and Windows Mail apps and recommended users upgrade to a new version of the Outlook service.
Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 in October 2025. Previously, the company offered owners of this operating system to extend the ability to receive extended security updates (ESU) for one more year for $30.
Companies will also be able to extend access to updates, but for several years. The first year will cost $61, the second will cost $122, and the third will cost $244.
The Verge wrote that “millions of computers” cannot upgrade to Windows 11 because the operating system only supports 8th-generation Intel and AMD Zen 2 processors and above.
