Apple and TSMC have been collaborating on chip production for several years, but the US company is now deciding to expand production on its site. Prototype iPhone chips, including the A16 Bionic, have been tested and Apple is now checking their quality and performance.
A16 Bionic chips will be used in older iPhone models such as the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, as well as other Apple devices that do not require peak performance. With them, it is planned to start production of the S9 chips used in Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.
