Due to slowing growth rates, the share of electric vehicles in total passenger car sales fell from 1.3% in 2023 to 1.1% in 2024.

The leader in the market for new electric vehicles is the Chinese Zeekr, which arrives in Russia through gray imports: the manufacturing company has no official presence in the country, Autostat points out. In 2024, more than 7.6 thousand Zeekr machines were sold in Russia, accounting for almost 43% of total sales.

Electric cars Moskvich (1.79 thousand units sold) and Evolute (1.12 thousand units) also turned out to be popular among Russians. Both brands are positioned as Russian, but in reality they are localized Chinese cars. The share of Moskvich and Evolute in sales was 10% and 7%, respectively.

Among the leading brands in terms of sales are also Volkswagen (1.01 thousand units, a decrease of 49%) and Avatr (690 units, an increase of 2.3 times).

The most popular model was the Zeekr 001 electric crossover, sales of which amounted to 5.02 thousand units (28% of the total). Also in the top 5 were Moskvich 3e (1.79 thousand units), Zeekr X (1.4 thousand units), Evolution i-PRO (781 units) and Zeekr 009 (713 units).
