According to them, the problems arose after the airline switched from one national software to another: from SkyBag from the manufacturer Aeromap to SmartSky from SZ RCAI and corporate tablets F+ tech T1100.
After the transition, pilots began to complain en masse about the performance of SmartSky on service tablets and noted that this software did not meet safety requirements, writes Aviatorschina.
In particular, pilots claimed that the new program contains technical errors, including inconsistencies in navigation data, frequencies, safe altitudes, lack of International Civil Aviation Organization rules, and flight patterns and rules in other countries.
The tablets themselves turned out to be “absolutely unsuitable for work,” the Telegram channel highlighted, adding that “the matter did not progress beyond conversations and promises by management to try to improve the operation of the software.”
Aviatorschina also reported that pilots were not provided backup software for navigation products, “which they repeatedly requested from flight director Eduard Sovetkin,” so they “have to continue flying in violation of federal aviation regulations.”
The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office for Supervision of the Execution of Laws on Air and Water Transport began an inspection of Aeroflot, the sources indicated. The department asked the airline’s management to explain the reasons for the transition from SkyBag to SmartSky, as well as the causes of complaints and appeals about the deficiencies of the program.
In December 2024, Aviatorschina sources said that the airline’s pilot instructors and command and management staff were preparing a collective appeal to the Ministry of Transport and the President of Russia “due to anarchy with salaries.” The Telegram channel explained that “the salary increase promised in June passed them by,” so the instructors and work teams “began to receive even less than the co-pilots.”
