Rospatent has extended the validity period of Apple’s exclusive rights to the “Yabloko” and Apple News Format brands until October 8, 2035 and November 13, 2035, respectively, RB.RU reported. In spring 2022, the American company suspended online sales in Russia.

Apple’s rights to the Yabloko trademark extend to ICGS classes 16, 35 and 41 (brushes, bookbinding materials, assistance in business management, information on upbringing and education, publication layout, typewriters and other goods and services).
The Apple News Format brand (the format used to create articles in Apple News+) covers classes 09, 16 and 42, which include, but are not limited to, computers, computer peripherals, paper, printed matter, and scientific and technological services, as well as how to write computer programs.

Apple suspended online sales in Russia in March 2022 due to the start of military operations in Ukraine. At the same time, the company limited the operation in the country of its Apple Pay payment service, which Russians used to pay through terminals.
The patent lawyer of the company Online Patent, Alina Sidorova, noted in an interview with RB.RU that foreign companies renew their trademarks in Russia to maintain the monopoly of their trademarks in the country, as well as protect their rights and be able to demand a compensation in the amount of up to 5 million rubles for the illegal use of stamps.
Previously, the American manufacturer Kimberly-Clark extended the protection of its Huggies diaper brand in Russia until 2034.
