Blade offers a $195 per year membership that will allow customers unlimited helicopter flights to and from the city for $95 per flight. Passengers will be able to park at JFK Airport on Long Island or Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey and then fly to the Blade Heliport at 30th Street and 12th Avenue in Hudson Yards in Manhattan.
Thanks to the new service, residents of the wealthy enclaves of Nassau County and northern New Jersey will be able to get from the airport to the western part of Manhattan in about five minutes, without having to enter the city by car or use transportation public, notes Bloomberg. .
The service will operate Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time and passengers will be able to carry a small bag, the company said.
In early January, the Financial Times reported that New York had become the first American city to force drivers to pay tolls to travel downtown during rush hour. The fee will be $9. During off-peak hours, the amount will be reduced to $2.25 for drivers entering Manhattan between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. on weekends. Drivers of small trucks will pay $14.40 during peak hours, drivers of larger vehicles will pay $21.60.
