iPhone owners in Russia have had problems with the eSIM. They lead to failure of the virtual SIM card, as well as device breakdowns, Kommersant reports citing customer complaints.

In January, a newspaper correspondent discovered more than 40 similar complaints. Roman Persiyanov, co-founder of the Pedant.ru phone repair service network, told Kommersant that in the first two weeks of 2025 they received up to ten requests with a similar problem. He added that it was mainly iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max owners who complained.
Users report that after losing the connection on the eSIM, the connection on the physical SIM card also disappears. As a result, subscribers are forced to contact service centers to replace eSIM modules. The most common problems arise among users of T-Mobile (owned by T-Bank) and Yota operators; There are also isolated requests from VimpelCom, Megafon and MTS subscribers.
The operators, in turn, claim that they do not observe massive complaints from subscribers about the operation of the eSIM on the iPhone. Only T-Mobile admitted the presence of isolated problems, but the company’s technical specialists have not yet determined the causes of the malfunction.
An electronics market source told the publication that the cause of the problem may be an outdated eSIM driver. Another source suggested that the problem may be that the operators’ software is not working properly.
Previously, on December 25, Kommersant, citing data from NMi Group, VK and M.Video-Eldorado, reported that the image of the iPhone in Russian advertising on television, billboards and the Internet over the past three years had begun to be inferior in popularity for Samsung and other Android devices. Among the reasons are the drop in Apple sales and the blocking of functions of its smartphones in the country.
