The system was tested on two volunteers with spinal cord injuries. They were given brain implants that allowed them to control a bionic arm using only their thoughts. Sensors in the hand transmit tactile sensations to the brain, helping users perform tasks easier and more precisely. This is a significant advance because previous prosthetic limbs could only simulate basic senses such as touch force and position.

Researchers state that although this is an interesting development, more studies are needed. The next phase will involve testing the BCI in “everyday conditions”.
