Following the speech, there was a noticeable increase in Americans searching for the word “oligarchy” on Google, especially in states that support Trump, who is scheduled to take office on January 20. The outgoing US president also criticized the “tech-industrial complex”, saying a few tech giants now control too much power, spread misinformation and undermine the free press.
