WhatsApp messenger is testing a new feature in the iOS version of the app for Statuses, the platform’s temporary posts. What’s new is Possibility to share a song via this temporary publishing format.
With this action, you can recommend tracks to your contacts, add a specific mood to a Status, or simply show what you’re currently listening to; This is something very similar to what has been offered on Instagram for a while now.
According to the WABetaInfo website, some users of the WhatsApp testing program began accessing the functionality on iPhone months after the same trials began on Android devices. You can try using music in Status Beta version of the app from 25.1.10.73.
Thanks to the new feature, WhatsApp for iOS users will now be able to select a song by searching from the artist catalog provided by Meta; this catalog is available on Instagram and shares many names with a wide selection.

Song can be added to a Status with photo or video. You can search by song title or artist name to enter.
The expectation in the coming weeks is that more iPhone owners will gain access to this feature before it launches definitively in the stable version of the app.
