Billionaire Elon Musk spoke about the developments of one of his companies, Neuralink, in six months he plans to introduce an implant to the first person that allows him to use a computer and a phone hands-free, writes Bloomberg.
Neuralink is improving the technology that will allow a small chip to be surgically implanted in the human brain. As Musk explains, the device will be useful for people dealing with the consequences of a stroke. He positively valued the negotiations with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This allows us to expect the first human trials within the next six months.
Speaking at an event in California, Musk also announced Neuralink’s plans to develop a chip that, once implanted in the spinal cord, would help people with neurological disabilities walk. In addition, the company plans to create eye implants that restore vision.
Neuralink began operating in 2016, the first year of the company’s activity was clandestine. In 2017, The Wall Street Journal drew attention to her. And just in 2019, Musk showed a photo of a rat’s brain with an implanted chip.
Earlier, the American businessman attracted the attention of the world community and the media with an agreement to acquire Twitter Inc. Musk became the owner of the social network at the end of October, after which he fired half of the employees, introduced new rules in the company and announced the implementation of the Twitter 2.0 concept.
