The event was moved to the US Capitol Rotunda due to cold weather for the first time since Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration in 1985, ABC News notes.

During his inauguration speech, Trump promised to declare a state of emergency on the US-Mexico border and send troops there. The American leader also confirmed his intentions to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the American Gulf.

In his speech, Trump never mentioned Russia or the conflict in Ukraine.

Previously, ABC News, citing informed sources, reported that US President-elect Donald Trump received a record $250 million for inauguration events. This amount is more than double the amount raised for the politician’s first inauguration in 2017. According to the publication, technology giants such as Meta*, Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and Uber donated $1 million each for the ceremony. ABC News noted that Meta* financially supported a presidential inauguration for the first time.
