Apple Intelligence features are now enabled by default when devices are first set up. Previously these were disabled and users had to enable them manually.
You can disable artificial intelligence from the “Apple Intelligence and Siri” section in the settings. This update applies only to compatible devices: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and all iPads and Macs with M1 and later processors.
Apple is mimicking Microsoft and Google’s strategy by aggressively promoting AI despite the beta status of the features. For example, notifications from News & Entertainment category apps were temporarily disabled due to bugs.
The update includes AI changes as well as bug fixes and security improvements.
iPhone 16 users will get Visual Intelligence, which allows them to recognize text in images and add events to their calendars. Genmoji feature added to Mac.
