OpenAI Introduces AI agent Operator powered by ChatGPT.
The operator can access the Internet and interact with sites through the built-in browser. For example, he can be called to a hotel room. The operator independently opens the website, finds suitable offers for the meeting date, shows all the client’s options, and then books the required room by telegraph.
It uses the GPT-4o language model and “sees” information through screenshots. To interact with sites, the Operator uses a keyboard and mouse, which requires a special API from the sites.
In some cases, the AI agent prompts the user to take control. For example, when you need to enter account information to log into a website or a trusted sender of a letter.
Access to the “research premium version” of the Operator is now open to ChatGPT users with a Pro subscription for $200 per month.
The Company is partnering with DoorDash, Instacart, OpenTable, Priceline, StubHub, Thumbtack and Uber to enable the Operator to provide real users in the future. At the launch stage, its performance will not always meet expectations.
In the future, the Operator will be available to ChatGPT users with Plus, Team and Enterprise subscriptions. [The Verge]
