Kavya was diagnosed with meningiomas (tumors in the layers of the brain) in 2023 after she started complaining of headaches and other symptoms. The tumors were located in a hard-to-reach area behind the eyes. Traditionally, craniotomy, which requires opening the skull, is used to remove such tumors. However, surgeons used a new method; the less invasive endoscopic transorbital approach.
By making a small incision along Kavya’s eyelid, surgeons were able to remove the tumor using a camera and flexible tube, eliminating the need to open her skull. Kavya recovered quickly, spending only two days in the hospital and leaving little scarring.
He returned to work three months later.
