The 100 largest Russian companies in the Edtech field in 2024 showed the total income increase in 19% year after year, up to 144.5 billion rubles. At the same time, during the previous period, growth amounted to 32%, Kommersant said with reference to the calculations of the intelligent classification of the analytical company.

The changes also occurred in the positions of industry leaders. Synergy occupied the first place in terms of income (12.7 billion rubles, an increase of 50.2% per year), before, in the third. In second place is the possession of Skillbox, owned by VK, with an income of 12.2 billion rubles (-1.13%), in the third SKYENG with an indicator of 12 billion rubles (+0.83%).
Despite this, the level of consolidation in the Edtech sector remains stable: the 10 main market actors continue to control approximately 55% of the income among the 100 largest industry companies, analysts said.
However, the growth rate of individual market segments slows down. For example, the growth of the revenue of the Infant Education segment decreased from 39% by 2023 to 32.6% in 2024, and the areas of “developers and platforms”, from 49% to 23.7%.
In addition, the business education industry has found 51%. Analysts connected this with a criminal case against the founder of the educational company such as Center, Ayo Shabutdinov. At the end of January, the Moscow prosecutor’s office completed a preliminary investigation of the businessman’s case: he was accused of 113 episodes of fraud.
One of the reasons for reducing the income growth rate in the Edtech industry is a high key rate of the Central Bank, says Marianna Snigireva, CEO of Netologiya (in October, the company was part of Sberbet).
“The cost of the courses remains high, 100 thousand rubles is a significant amount that is difficult to pay for a salary,” he recalled. According to Snigireva, the previous people more often received loans to train, but with the growth of bets, their availability decreased, and the banks began to approve them less frequently.
