Some highly requested emojis are expected to emerge between 2022 and 2023, but these years will be marked by the consideration of very few new proposals. The preview of the news published by Emojipedia shows this.
Emoji 15.0 includes a waving face and long-awaited pink heart, as well as small hands in various positions for a high-five. It’s part of the 31 emojis in the Unicode Consortium’s “draft” that will consider all these options and approve some of them this September.
Approved emojis will start appearing on Android, iOS and other supported platforms after September this year and heading into 2023.
The number of 31 emojis to review may not seem like much, but it’s a pretty significant reduction compared to the 112 recommendations made in 2021. Last year, 334 emoji were evaluated from the draft. According to Emojipedia, this is the least number of emojis recommended by the Unicode Consortium in a year.
The “candidates” that are usually posted as drafts are eventually approved, so most, if not all, of the figures in this image are expected to be available in emoji form starting September.
