  • On Thursday, February 27, Gasev resorted to the Ministry of Agriculture with a proposal to increase tariffs to Russia imported to Russia and reduce VAT for 10%national flower producers. According to Gasev, “the measure will not significantly affect the final cost of the goods, but will reduce the amount of imported colors,” which will admit and “push” the Russian manufacturers.

According to Modenova, a reduction in the proportion of imported colors and its increase in price can lead to increased national prices and flowers. “Russian suppliers will not be able to cover the demand, since the proportion of domestic colors is only 19%, and most of the products are already exhausted: purchases begin at the beginning of autumn and contracts with suppliers are concluded long before the holiday season. It is impossible to grow an additional dozen of thousands of flowers in a week, ”warned the main manager.

What expects buyers? According to the Modenova forecast, the increase in import tariffs will mainly affect the final consumer, since “the increase in customs costs will inevitably affect the cost of the bouquet.” At the same time, Flowwow is not waiting for a reduction in the demand for flowers. “Our study showed that 60% of respondents will choose a less bulky bouquet, but they will still buy flowers,” said Modenova.

  • At the end of January, market participants talked about the increase in national tulip prices and imported by 20-25% due to the increase in import tariffs and the increase in the cost of Dutch bulbs. The founder of “Tsvetkom” Vladimir Panin associated the increase in the price with the crop failure in the Netherlands.
  • In February, the average cost of tulips in Russia almost equaled with the price of roses. A year earlier, roses cost 38.9% more than tulips, now the difference is only 7.4%. The cost of a tulip reached 231.3 rubles, roses – 248.6 rubles.
