Modern bands contain up to 15 terabytes, and new developments from IBM promise 580 Terabayte. Digital carriers, such as hard drives, are more expensive in maintenance, less durable (5-10 years) and vulnerable to pirates.
Doge did not specify exactly what the tapes were changed – probably these cloud servers or solid state drives. Critics, including X Network users, show that the transition not only saves money, but also can increase costs as digital systems need to be continuously renewed.
