Over the last six months, Russian bloggers have lost up to 90% of their income. Among the reasons are the blocking of Instagram* and Facebook*, the disabling of monetization on YouTube and the uploading of any Russian content to TikTok, the departure of some large foreign advertisers.
Bloggers' income is formed from various sources: site monetization, advertising contracts, additional projects, the director of the Hello blogger agency, Tatyana Ivanova, explained to Izvestia.
One of the gaming bloggers with more than 100,000 YouTube subscribers reported that his monthly income from channel monetization on YouTube dropped from $800 to $120 per month.
Due to the blocking of social networks and the deactivation of monetization, Russian bloggers are switching to Telegram and VK. Many of them tried to recover their income: some began to place more ads, others increased the prices of advertising posts. In Telegram, its cost increased to 300%, the cost of advertising integrations in VK increased to 90%.
Bloggers also began to find advertisers when they previously used the services of specialized agencies.
