Knutov said that lasers have already been used to destroy the drones, but they have experienced difficulties – it is difficult to keep the rays correctly for a moving target. However, laser systems are easy to use, do not make noise and do not work in an invisible spectrum. They can also directly open fire to the fighting part of the drone in the air, which reduces the risk of destruction on earth.
The expert thinks of electromagnetic weapons in a more promising way. The electronics can “burn” at once on a group of drones at hundreds of meters. Now there is a data collection about such technologies and according to Knutov’s assessment, they can go up to five years for full applications.
Russian development “Strekh” already uses laser and directs the beam according to life. The exposure temperature can reach up to 900 degrees depending on the conditions.
