32 people participated in the new scientific study, led by experts from the National University of Singapore. All of them needed to sleep 10, 30 or 60 minutes on different days during the day.
Compared to being awake, 10-60 minutes of daytime sleep turned out to have clear health benefits.
At the same time, just 30 minutes of sleep improved memory. If people slept for 30 minutes or 60 minutes, then they experienced drowsiness, sleep inertia, and a temporary decrease in performance. But all these unpleasant effects disappeared half an hour after waking up.
In general, it is best to sleep for 30 minutes during daylight hours. Research also shows that taking a nap after dinner improves your mood, improves memory, and also makes you feel more alert at the end of the day.
The results of the study described above were published in Sleep.
