This is a new malicious modification of the NFCGATE program, which mimics the same name under a useful application of the same name for the analysis of NFC traffic. In April-May, the Supercard program was mainly used in Europe, but now malicious use in Russia has begun. The attackers steal money from the Russian bank cards with NFC traffic.
According to RBC, the Supercard attack scheme is similar to NFCGate’s use for criminal purposes in winter. Malicious software is sold as a service in the forums in Darknet. At the same time, Supercard is not a continuation of NFCGATE, because it varies in the functionality and structure of the code – these products have different developers.
“The company discovered the initiatives of Russian banks using Supercard in May. The implementation allows you to miss the debit card data by seizing NFC traffic. In the future, this allows fraudsters to steal money from bank accounts.
