The Bank of Russia does not rule out increasing the official interest rate. The issue of this will be considered at the next meeting of the regulator in June, said Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Alexey Zabotkin, Interfax writes.
According to the data received at the last meeting of the Central Bank, it is necessary to maintain a strict monetary policy for a long time. The level of inflation in Russia is higher than the Bank of Russia’s forecasts, Zabotkin noted.
In April, the Central Bank kept the key interest rate at 16%. The last time the Bank of Russia changed the key interest rate was in December 2023, increasing it from 15% to 16% annually.
