To do a new study, scientists used the data of 2420 participants aged 60 years and older. All these people were included in the National Health and Nutrition Studies (NHANES) from 2011 to 2014.

Participants who consumed more copper had higher results in all cognitive tests. In people who receive 1.44 mg or more copper per day, there were approximately 4 points higher in DSST (evaluation of attention and information ratio assessment) compared to areas less than 0.76 mg per day, and the results of memory tests on aphthe -scale (evaluation of executive functions and language), as well as general cognitive points.

In addition, it is interesting that cognitive indicators rise to only 1.2-1.6 mg per day with an increase in copper consumption due to the test. Such a connection was especially evident among those who had stroke. In this group, high copper consumption is also associated with a more significant improvement in general cognitive function.
