Among the first partners are the UPI Indian system, China Weixin Pay (part of Townnt), Paypal and Venmo. PayPal also made a preliminary agreement with Mercado Pago, Latin American platform, working with bank cards and mobile payments.
According to the president of Paypal Alex Chriss, the new platform will combine the world’s largest payment services in a system and make transfers between countries easier than ever.
For example, a tourist from the United States will be able to pay in China and scan the code with only Weixin Pay. And a person living in India will be able to pay the purchase on the American site using the UPI wallets.
The beginning of the platform is planned in the autumn of 2025.
